Culture in the Valley adds to the Northern Lifestyle
Over the past week Tourism Smithers welcomed students from the University of Northern BC that were here to conduct a fact-gathering session on the tourism amenities in the valley as this year Smithers is privileged to have been selected as the host community for the Rural BC Tourism Conference scheduled for October. Besides our natural scenic attributes the group was really excited about the amount of cultural experiences Smithers offers that are so important to attract tourists (and business investors) to the area.
While they were here they had access to the in-house concert at the Two Sisters Café and the SuperHero and Villain Dance out at Driftwood. They were impressed that the Blue Fin Sushi Bar hosts regular Blues and Open Mike Nights and that our Della Herman Theatre hosts so many local events. As the Chamber and BVEDA are asked often from potential investors what the community offers families and young adults we’re always proud to expand on the many opportunities young people have in the valley and business people are always impressed with the athletic facilities; dance opportunities and entertainment for a small town. Good job to all the people from organizations like the BV Folk Music Society, Concert Association and local schools who provide us with so many cultural events.
